Time Travelling......

Hello Possums,  Reporting to you from a humid and breezy Queensland. Elanora in Queensland to be precise and close to Burleigh Heads. Yes, we've crossed the border from New South Wales into Queensland and the clocks went back an hour so that's taking some getting used to. A trip to Bunnings in Tweed Heads, NSW (B&Q equivalent) means we are officially time travellers. My Smart Watch is being tested ! I'm blaming the delay in blog to jet lag haha.                             So last time I blogged we were about to head to Bostobrick to a Blueberry Farm, which, having baulked initially at the $40 a night for no facilities other than a drop loo, we had to wind our necks in having listened to the farmer's story. Also the subsequent two night stay was blissfully quiet and peaceful and we had the place to ourselves complete with swimming holes, Freshwater /turtles and the hope of spotting a Platypus. Krackin' Kimberley

  "'ave yer seen me friend? she's really, really tall, she's got bits o' ceilin' stuck in 'er 'air"; this bit of comedy genius was what I thought of when I heard the name 'Kimberley'.  In the last few weeks however, we have witnessed ' The Kimberley' in all her glory.   Firstly, some factoids: - 423,517 square kilometres or, to put it another way, 3 times the size of England or slightly smaller than California - first peopled about 40,000 years ago but the neighbourhood went downhill about 250 years ago when some Europeans arrived  - there are 4 LGAs (Local Government Area - a name most people from NSW are becoming too aware of). Broome, Derby (West Kimberley), Halls Creek and Wyndham (East Kimberley) - population (in the 2016 Census) 34,794 but we are guessing this number almost doubled in the height of this years travelling season - 40% of the population are indigenous with 50-60 different aboriginal languages spoken - economy is
