Dennis Does Blogging

Chur!  Kia ora.

Hi, I am Dennis Dog and I am gonna let you know what it's really like.  It's taken me a while to get writing to you because I NEVER have any time on my own anymore.  Mistress Small and Mistress Tall are here ALL THE TIME!  How am I supposed to keep the Aroma Database up to date?  I get hassle all the time from my Cuzzy Bro's for not updating it but I can never get any time on the 'puter any more.  It's barking.

A long time ago we lived in a big wooden kennel in a place called Auckland.  I knew all the smells, including the dastardly cats from next door, and I knew all the smells on my walks.  It was really easy to keep the Database up to date.  Every morning we would trot with Lady Who Smelt Nice, she who would give me toast, and Tall Man, he never gave me any toast but he did call me Den Den which I kind of liked.  Then we would walk again in the afternoon, sometimes with Mistress Small too, sometimes at the dog park with my mates Ted, Pippie, Ollie, sometimes at the beach, sometimes in the nice smelling bush and sometimes with my most favouritist mates, Brooke & Bertie. Man, I miss them.  And then there were my actual bro's, Monty and Tank, who were so cool cos they knew how to kill things; I loved being with them.  So there I was, enjoying the BEST life ever.  Then it all changed.

An adventure they said.  Seeing new things they said.  An opportunity of a lifetime they said.  Mmmm.  So now we live in a very small kennel on wheels.  And like I said, I never have me time anymore but, on the tail side, I do get a lot of human time and I do get lots and lots of attention so not all bad.  Although I am a bit miffed when strangers say I am a mongrel.  As if!

All the dogs here speak differently to my home and they seem to have some difficulty in understanding me but after a bit of sniffing we get along ok.  I have made some new best mates especially TED.  We are the same size and so can wrestle and wrestle and wrestle.  He looks a lot like Brooke but his legs do not grow as far to the ground.  Then there is Hesitant Hansel and Gentle Jazz, there used to be Buoyant Britnee but she has gone to the rainbow. I spent time with them where it is really hot but they have nice beaches too.

We do a lot of moving in the kennel on wheels.  It's ok but I never get the chance to put my head out of the window when we are underway, making way and so when we stop I have to do sniff inventory of the new place.  It can take some time.  And I am hindered by the bitey bitey things, the hoppy hoppy things, the slithery slithery things, the clicky clicky things, the stingy stingy things and the buzzy buzzy things.  Even the grass has attacked me!

Sometimes we stop moving and I really like those times especially when we are with Carrot Lady and Tasty Leg Man.  There was something called Corona which meant we had to stay in a wooden kennel really near to Carrot Lady and Tasty Leg Man, we saw them every day.  It was brilliant.  I was able to get my database up to date and I got loads and loads of pets and cuddles from Carrot Lady.  In fact, we are with them at the moment.  It makes me very happy.

Here are my highlights since we arrived in the sunburnt country (they are not in any order because the software supporting this blog is rubbish.  Dog software is miles better):

Me watching a hoppy hoppy thing

Me and Hansel and Jazz.  We humoured the humans by wearing the ridiculous shirts

That is Mistress Tall, she always sits on the starboard side

Every now and then, my hair gets a bit itchy.  Mistress Tall watched YouTube to work out how to take the hair away.  I think I preferred going to Hollywoof Grooming but needs must.

The very best thing about this place is the warm beaches and warm sea.  I love it.

Don't ask.  Everywhere we go it's "ooh Dennis, lets sit you next to this statue of a dog/bull/man/horse/watever".  Like, really?

This is the best place to watch for invaders

Ask yourself, would you do this to someone you loved?

At times it has gotten really, really hot.  What do we do on those days?  Why, we go on hikes up big mountains of course.

I loved these guys, they smelled great.

And if it's not really hot then it's windy.  My schnoz was getting all sorts of sniffs!

Did I mention how much I love the beach?

Apparently this was funny.

Even better than being at the beach, is being at the beach and in the sea with Mistress Tall and Mistress Small

And after the sea, sand!

Handsome huh?

Putting me in a trolley, really? I honestly was not going to pee on anything...

Me and Ted after doing wresting for a few hours

Me and Carrot Lady in her small kennel on wheels.  I LOVE being in this place!

Another good place is napping next to one of my favourite humans

Or watching my other favourite human, especially when she presents me with carrot

This country and the animals, it's not right...

So, that is it from me.  Kia kaha followers.

Hi Dennis,
Miss you so much too (even your dependents). So lovely to hear from you personally and how life is treating you in the “lucky country”. You must have a slight accent by now we’re guessing. As long as you remain your good natured, caring and loving self that’s the main thing. Just one thing, full disclosure, we now have a second favourite canine in our lives. Do you remember your mate Percy? He is enjoying lots of pats and cuddles from us since your departure. Thanks for all those beautiful photos of yours truly. Bye for now ChrisnDi xx
